EVENTS

The Kent Community Fund sponsors annual events and workshops to benefit the Kent community.

Resource Workshops

Since 2008 KCF has organized 12 Annual Workshops for staff members of agencies and organizations which provide services to Kent residents. 25 to 40 participants meet to exchange information and brainstorm solutions to common concerns. Past participants have included representatives of the Alzheimer’s Association, Chore Service, Housatonic Youth Service Bureau, Kent Center School, the Litchfield Hills Probate Court, Literacy Volunteers on the Green, local hospitals and visiting nurse associations, Women’s Support Services and many other groups. Kent’s first selectman, social services director and KCF board members also participate each year.

The 2019 workshop focused on transportation issues.  These workshops have been paused due to COVID 19 restrictions.

Focus Groups

In the Spring of 2019, KCF hosted a focus group for Kent resources – pastors, school and ambulance personnel, counselors, medical providers and others – to assess community needs and service gaps. A December 2022 in-person focus group provided an opportunity for participants to share information and identify common local concerns.

KCF will also periodically sponsor additional community-wide events on topics related to developing social services needs, often in cooperation with other groups.
