The Kent Community Fund sponsors two annual events.
A Spring Resource Workshop for staff members of agencies and organizations which provide services to Kent residents. Since 2008, 30 to 40 participants have met to exchange information and brainstorm solutions to common concerns. Past participants have included representatives of the Alzheimer’s Association, Chore Service, Housatonic Youth Service Bureau, Kent Center School, the Litchfield Hills Probate Court, Literacy Volunteers on the Green, local hospitals and visiting nurse associations, Women’s Support Services and many other groups. Kent’s first selectman, social services director and KCF board members also participate each year.
A Fall Information Workshop for seniors in honor of founding board member Jim Palmer. Each year a different topic is presented by guest speakers. The 2012 workshop focused on changes in Medicare and prescription drug coverage; the 2013 workshop on estate planning. The workshops are co-sponsored by the Town of Kent, the Kent Memorial Library, and Templeton Farm Senior Housing.
